Frequently Asked Questions

Can I own 100% of my company with no Emirati partner?
Yes. A free zone company allows 100% foreign ownership, with no sponsor or local partner required, and full repatriation of profits. No nationality restriction was found for French nationals.
How many visas can my company obtain?
With a shared workstation, the official rule is one visa. For more visas, you need to move up to a larger office space: the exact number then depends on the configuration chosen and is confirmed at the quotation stage.
How long is my residence visa valid?
The residence visa is always issued in 2-year blocks: that is the free zone standard, whatever the length of your pack. What lasts 1, 3 or 5 years is your company's license; that is what gets renewed (every year with the 1-year pack, nothing to manage for 3 or 5 years with the others). As long as the license is active, your visa is renewed every 2 years at no cost. If the license expires without being renewed, the current visa is not canceled overnight, but it becomes non-renewable (as do those of your employees and your family), and the free zone may start cancelling it if the situation persists; when the company closes, the visas it sponsors are canceled. Your Emirates ID follows the same duration as your visa.
What is the process to obtain my visa?
After the company is set up and its immigration file opened: entry permit (e-visa), then medical test, Emirates ID and biometrics in the UAE, and finally residency approval. Company + visa together usually take 2 to 4 weeks.
Will I pay corporate tax?
A free zone entity benefits from 0% corporate tax on its qualifying income, provided it meets all the requirements of the "Qualifying Free Zone Person" status (real substance in the UAE, audited financial statements, compliance with the de minimis threshold). Otherwise, taxable profit above 375,000 AED is taxed at 9%. The scope of qualifying activities changes (Ministerial Decision 229 of 2025) and must be reassessed every financial year.
And what about personal income tax?
The UAE does not tax personal income: 0%, whether on salaries, freelance income or personal investment income. Becoming a UAE tax resident does, however, require properly organizing your departure from France (breaking tax residency, possible exit tax).
Can I bring my family?
Yes, once you are a resident, you can sponsor your spouse and children if your income reaches 4,000 AED per month (or 3,000 AED with accommodation provided). The dependent visa is one of the options in your quote.
Do I need a physical office?
Not necessarily. For an e-commerce license, no physical office is required. For the other licenses, a shared workstation is enough for one visa; a larger space is only needed for more visas.
Why do you mention Ras Al Khaimah and not only Dubai?
The free zone we use, RAKEZ, is located in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven Emirates, about an hour's drive from Dubai. You get a lower setup cost while staying right next to the Dubai hub: same federal taxation, same UAE residence visa.
Can BlueVisa handle the entire process?
Yes. We take care of the company formation, the opening of the immigration file, the visa application, the coordination of the formalities on site and the banking introductions. You provide the information, we manage the whole process.
What about my crypto or tradfi activities?
These activities are handled personally, in your own name; separately from your company and your residence permit. The UAE does not tax personal income: gains you make personally (trading, stock markets, capital gains, including in cryptocurrencies) are not taxed (0%). One practical caveat: banks classify crypto profiles as "high risk", so opening an account goes through enhanced due diligence (KYC); it is doable, and we point you to the right institutions.
