Frequently asked questions

Can I set up a Mauritian company without living in Mauritius?
Yes: a foreign national can own 100% of a Mauritian domestic company. The law does require at least one Mauritius-resident director and a company secretary: if you are not on the island yet, we put those functions in place through our local partners until your situation changes.
What is the minimum capital?
No minimum capital is required for a domestic company: it can be incorporated with a single one-rupee share. One caveat: if the company is to carry your Occupation Permit Investor, the required investment is USD 100,000 (or the equivalent; the USD 50,000 option was removed in August 2026); that is a condition of the permit, not of the company.
Domestic Ltd, GBC, Authorised Company: what is the difference?
The domestic company (Ltd) is the standard structure: business in Mauritius or internationally, 15% tax, simple administration. The GBC (Global Business Company) and the Authorised Company are vehicles regulated by the FSC, designed for specific international structuring, with significantly higher costs and obligations. For the vast majority of entrepreneurs, the domestic Ltd is the right choice; if your case calls for a GBC, we will tell you on the discovery call and point you to the right partner.
Is the bank account opening guaranteed?
No serious provider can guarantee an opening: the decision belongs to the bank, after its compliance process (KYC). Our role is to maximize your chances: a complete file the first time, a bank matched to your profile and your sector, and follow-up until the decision. Allow 2 to 6 weeks depending on the bank; some profiles may require an interview, which is sometimes possible by video call.
What are my company's annual obligations?
An annual return to the Registrar of Companies, the corporate tax return to the MRA, and, depending on your situation, the VAT and employer filings (PAYE, contributions). Bookkeeping is mandatory. Our accounting service covers all of it for a monthly fee based on your activity.
How long before I am up and running?
The incorporation itself takes a few business days once the file is complete. With the tax registration, allow one to two weeks for a company ready to invoice. The bank account is the longest step: 2 to 6 weeks depending on the bank and the profile.
