Who can apply for this visa?
Anyone holding an employment contract with a company registered in Mauritius.
What minimum salary is required?
The minimum salary is MUR 50,000 per month, across all sectors — the former ProPass and Expert Pass categories were merged in August 2026. Current holders are assessed against the previous threshold (MUR 30,000) at their first renewal only.
Who files the application?
It is the employer who files the application with the EDB, not the candidate.
How long is the permit valid?
The permit length is aligned with that of your employment contract, up to a maximum of 10 years.
Can I change employer?
Yes, but changing employer requires filing a new permit application.
What happens if I lose my job?
You have two weeks to notify the authorities and up to six months to find a new job. Beyond that, you must leave the country.
Can I invest on the side?
Yes, you can hold personal investments, provided you do not draw a salary from them.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. Your spouse and children can obtain a dependent permit and live with you in Mauritius.
Can I set up my own company later?
Absolutely. You can switch at any time to an Investor or Self-Employed permit to launch your own business.
