Does my French pension count towards the transfer?
Yes! Your retirement pension, rental income or savings can all be used. What matters is the bank transfer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum age for the Mauritius retirement permit?
You must be at least 50 years old at the time of application. There is no maximum age limit.
How much must I transfer to obtain the permit?
The government requires a transfer of USD 2,000 per month (or USD 24,000 per year) to a Mauritian bank account. This is not a lost investment: it is simply your own money, transferred so you can live in Mauritius.
Can I work with a retirement permit?
No. This permit is reserved for retirees, pensioners and financially independent individuals. No local salaried activity is allowed. If you wish to work, an investor permit will be required.
Can I invest or set up a company in Mauritius?
Yes. You are free to invest, buy shares, set up a company or own property. The only restriction: you cannot draw a local salary from it.
How long does the residence permit last?
The retirement permit is issued for 10 years, renewable. It is one of the longest permits offered in Mauritius. After several years, you can also consider permanent residence or long-term wealth structuring.
Can I relocate with my spouse or family?
Yes. Your spouse, children and, in some cases, your parents can obtain a dependent permit. The whole family can then live legally in Mauritius.
Do I have to declare my tax residencies?
Yes. Mauritius applies the international CRS standards. You will need to state your tax residence and any other countries of residence. This is a simple banking-compliance formality.
Is it a good visa for settling permanently?
It is the favorite visa of expat retirees. Stability over 10 years, a simple procedure, no business obligation, attractive taxation, a tropical climate all year round and a renowned quality of life. It is today one of the best retirement-relocation options in the world.
Can I buy property in Mauritius?
Yes. Apartment, villa or an IRS, PDS or Smart City scheme: several options are open to you. Depending on the amount invested, you can even obtain a residence permit through property acquisition, which can be combined with your retirement status.
How does BlueVisa make settling in easier?
We take care of your entire relocation: opening a bank account, international transfers, the residence file, immigration compliance, appointments with the authorities, and property support. You arrive, and we handle the rest.
